This is a pretty brief readme, since this is only an early version of the program. Expect new features and bug ('undocumented features') fixes in the future.

HOW TO EDIT DK LEVELS
=========================
Before we start, a WARNING. We take no responsibility for any damage done when you try to edit levels.
Unzip this program into any directory; it doesn't really matter. If you want to change any levels then you will need to copy some files off the CD onto your hard disk. Copy the '\Keeper\Levels' directory and the '\keeper\ldata\' directory off your CD and into your dungeon keeper directory on your hard disk. You can safely delete the file '\ldata\intromix.smk' from your hard disk - it takes up 24mb but isn't needed (It is the rendered start sequence.)
You need to edit the file '\keeper.cfg' from your dungeon keeper directory on your hard disk. The top line probably reads 'INSTALL_PATH=D:\KEEPER\'; change it to the location of Dungeon Keeper on your hard disk.
To jump to a level that you have edited, you will need a program called 'chdkcht2.zip'. You should find it inside the zip file you downloaded. Unzip it into your Dungeon Keeper Directory. It is a program which will edit one of your savegame files, and let you jump to any level. Use it to edit a savegame file and jump to the level that you have edited. a WARNING : You should back up your savegames first as the program overwrites them. The chdkcht2.zip was created by a bloke called 'cyberhead'.
----
<Note from El Brutalo>
I modified this selfextracting .exe into a .zip format. I also removed the outdated chdkcht2.zip
since this program only worked with the beta version. Download the working version here:
http://www.redbox.at/cheats/stuff/ch-dkcht.zip.
---
Alternativly, if you don't want to use that program, you can edit the multiplayer levels. These are all numbered 50 upwards. Start Dungeon Keeper with the switch '-1player', so for example if you have the dos version type 'keeper -1player' and for the win95 version type 'keeper95 -1player'. Start a new multiplayer game and select the option '1player' from the service menu. Select your level from the map. You will be taken to the level you have edited.
========================
WHAT THIS PROGRAM CAN DO
========================
At the moment, you can read in levels, and save levels. You can place new terrain, such as gold, walls, etc. Placing new rooms works perfectly, but placing some terrain doesn't work quite right yet. The program displays a map of the level for easy viewing.
==========================
WHAT THIS PROGRAM CAN'T DO
==========================
We are still looking into the problems, but the changes that you make don't always appear correctly in Dungeon Keeper; for example if you place a gold seam in the editor, dungeon keeper treats it as a gold seam (so you can mine it), but doesn't display it as a gold seam; it just displays ordinary rock.
Also, some of the levels appear to be compressed, so you can't read them in at all yet.
==========================
USING THE PROGRAM
==========================
There is no documentation at the moment, but its easy to figure out. There are now tooltips on all the textures.
